THE HISTORY OF OUR ESTABLISHMENT - Hotel Restaurant in Vannes

A historic restaurant in Vannes

This quality home was built in 1738. Originally located in rue Saint Yves (previously known as rue d'Auray and renamed rue Hoche in the early 1800s), the inn known as the À l'Image Sainte-Anne moved to the Place du Champ de Foire, which has since become the Place de la Libération, in the mid-19th century.

In 1844, it appeared on the town's first land registers in place of the Paul Bert secular school. At the time, the establishment was a popular coaching inn where people could eat and rest, and where horses were kept ready for a quick stopover.

In 1886, the owner at the time, Mr Perrodo, was listed in the local directory as a cabaret owner. But it wasn't until 1948, under the leadership of the Ligeour family, that the establishment became a true culinary showcase where Breton gastronomy was expressed to the delight of local customers and passing travellers. Over the years, the quality of its cuisine and its efficient staff have been recognised by regulars and travellers alike. This is a renowned restaurant in Vannes.

Claude Le Lausque, who worked in the kitchen for almost 40 years, passed on the torch in 2015 to Frédéric Thebaud, who is carrying on the restaurant's culinary heritage, while respecting today's requirements.

old visual history

Why the name À l'Image Sainte-Anne?

Quite simply because the establishment was located on the route de Sainte-Anne d'Auray, an old street that originally served the Visitation convent and the convent of Nazareth before the straightening of the Vannes crossroads, which gave it its role as the exit to Auray.

A renowned restaurant in Vannes

Over the years, regulars and travellers have come to appreciate the quality of the food and the efficiency of the staff. À l'Image Sainte-Anne is now a renowned restaurant in Vannes. We have taken care to preserve the original values of the establishment, which are: natural conviviality, rigour in the choice of products and "home-made".

Our restaurant also has the " Master Restaurateur "Since 2013, the restaurant has met a set of specifications combining the professionalism and qualifications of the chef, the traceability and seasonality of the products and the demand for entirely home-cooked food.

Today, our young chef Frédéric Thebaud is carrying on this Breton tradition in a place steeped in history.
